A great troubleshooting step when having connection issues with Raven Desktop is to verify that the scanner is able to be seen on your network from your computer. To do this you would run the ping command on your MAC computer. This will let you know if the scanner is able to be seen.
To open Terminal you have 2 options. The first option is to click the Launchpad icon in the dock, type 'Terminal' in the search field, then click on 'Terminal'. The second option is to open the Finder
, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, then double-click Terminal.
Please see instructions below to see how to Ping:
- Open the terminal on your MAC.
- Type in 'ping -t' followed by your IP ADDRESS of your Raven Scanner.
- Hit ENTER.
- Once you hit ENTER you will see one of two things. Please see examples below.
If the MAC is able to see the Raven Scanner on the network successfully it will look like this:
As you can see it is getting replies back from the scanner showing that it is able to see it.
If the MAC is not able to see it on the network it will look like this:
As you can see it is getting "Request Timed Out" because it is unable to reach that IP on the network.
In the instances where it does get a "Request Timed Out" try:
1. Rebooting Your Scanner.
2. Rebooting Your Computer.
3. Verify that the Scanner and the Computer are on the same network.
