Scanners equipped with an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) contain multiple motors, gears and belts that work together to coordinate handling of sheets placed in the feeder. The feeder moves at different rates of speed depending on the settings chosen such as Color, Quality (DPI) and number of sides being scanned.
It is normal for the scanner to make different sounds or noises at different rates of speed. Unless you are experiencing jams, misfeeds or other paper handling errors, there is no need to be concerned about these sounds.
